Lawrenceville, GA - Carl L. Britt, 80, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Gwinnett Medical Center. He was born in Savannah, son of the late John O. and Jessie Mae Rahn Britt. Mr. Britt worked as a civil service employee for the Georgia Air National Guard, 283rd. Combat Communications Squadron for over 44 years and also served in the Georgia Air National Guard for over 43 years. His administrative expertise earned him the name "MEMA." He was a former member of Ardsley Park Baptist Church and Immanuel Baptist Church in Savannah where he actively served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and on various committees. Most recently he was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Snellville, GA. Carl Britt was a man who loved well and was loved by many. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by wives, Dorothy Bevill Britt, Margaret H. Britt, brother, John Osborne Britt and sister, Neda B. Suddath.

Surviving are his wife, Villie Gunter Britt of Grayson, GA; children, David C. Britt Jennifer of Savannah, GA; Grady B. Britt Susan of Watkinsville, GA; Dorothy Theresa Mock Steve, of Sylvania, GA, Michael Britt Julie of Peachtree City, GA; Sandy G. Huston Glenn of Snellville, GA; Chuck Gunter Shirley of Winder, GA; brother, Richard H. Britt Marion of Panama City, FL; sister, Lois B. Tillman of Savannah, GA; affectionately known by his grandchildren as "Poppie", he is also survived by his grandchildren, Rachel Britt Huston Ben, Carson Britt Jennifer, Madelyn Mock, Deanna Mock, Daniel Britt, Rebecca Britt, Zack HustonPaula, Matt Huston, Kelsey Gunter and Whitney Gunter; great grandchildren, Reece Huston, Elliot Huston and nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013 at Fox &Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

A worship service to celebrate the life and home-going of Carl will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Immanuel Baptist Church conducted by his granddaughter, Reverend Rachel Britt Huston.

Pallbearers will be Carson Britt, Zack Huston, Matt Huston, Ben Huston, Daniel Britt and Bruce Powell.

Burial: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

A gathering to celebrate the life of Carl will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Pathway Center Ministry, 220 C.S. Floyd Road, Loganville, GA, 30052.

I apologize for this being so late, but I just found out that Carl had passed away last March. I was with the Air National Guard, 157th Tactical Control Group, St. Louis, MO. I worked with Carl many years as his unit was part of our Group. We had a wonderful working relationship over the years. Carl was truly a first class person. Please accept my condolences.
